Hey mom, family and friends! How are you guys?? Out here has been great! I love it here!!! Blessings are continuously coming for me and Elder Garver. I pray for McChins (baby M) everyday, and for my family. My zone has done a lot of service for other churches, and we have been so blessed to help our community.
Uncle Aaron I love you and love your letters. For me it's simple. This is how I break it down:
Entertainment: P-Day basketball and pulling pranks on the Fishhook elders. We pretended to rob their apartment dressed in black. It was fun.
Social: Well, you can probably guess. We have been going door to door and trying to spill the first sentence out of our mouths, but the door usually ends up shutting before you can finish. But we do get an occasional investigator that lets us in cause it's COLD.
Food: it's yummy!!!!
Business: Me and my companion cover 2 wards called the Cottonwood Ward and the Suisitna YSA Ward. Yes, I know it's YSA but like only 15 people go so it's not like you think it would be for a YSA.
Well, you get my days! Haha, love ya Uncle Aaron!!! Aunt Jenny, thanks for the letters as well. In your last letter you forgot to cross out "can't wait for your 6 month mark!" I'm not quite there yet,
but I will be.
I love it here in Alaska. There are lots of awesome ward members. I found the Wolvertons from the Concord Stake. They go to my ward and we are having dinner with them tonight. Funn!!! The work is tough but fun. I learn a lot, cry a lot........(just kidding) and laugh a lot with my zone. My zone leaders are sweet! Elder Webb was a body builder. He is 6'4 and could actually pull a train! But he got diagnosed with brain cancer, he fought it and won. He is not as strong as he was but is still awesome to be around. Then Elder Modlick is from New Zealand and came from a really wealthy family. He cared only about himself but he changed and he is all about service and helping others. He is my height and is the coolest guy ever. We have continued with the work: praying, studying and serving. We have a chance if everything goes perfect, we could have a total of 7 individual baptisms and a family of 11 but only 9 can be baptized because the other 2 are under 8. We could have that many by February 2 though. The work is booming.
I'm closing because it's time to play basketball. I love you!!! Kayla, I pray for you and I love you! Stevie, win states for me...something I couldn't do during my high school basketball career. Brady, I have a gift I'll give you when I return...I love you and miss you, keep the words coming. I love you mom and dad!!!! Mom, your support is awesome and dad, I hope I make you proud cause that's what a son loves to hear from his old man. Jo-Jo and McFlub, (baby M) I love you two! Stay cute and I'll see you in TWO. BB, love ya and stay strong my brother! Find happiness and be righteous.
Love, Elder Orton
Check out my boots I got for free!!! I am getting dad a pair so you can tell him if you want, mom. They can go into -110 degrees of weather, made for the military in the base in barrow. They sell them to the public cause they have a new boot to wear, so dad I'll be getting you a pair. It won't cost a lot because the guy who sells them gives them to missionaries for free, but for another it's like 50 bucks. They originally cost 200 dollars. They are warm and they are comfy. Just for you dad!!! I love you all!! Keep the letters coming.
